Scuba Diving Equipment

There are many recreational activities or sports that can be performed under water. One of them is scuba diving, which may also be done for other purposes that are industrially-or commercially related. What makes this activity distinct from other types of diving is that a scuba set is required to be used by the diver so breathing may be done under the water. In scuba diving, the diver carries his or her own tank or container of compressed air.

Just like other diving forms, scuba diving allows the diver the chance to see the things underneath the water. Scuba diving may be done in seas and lakes. Before one can perform the activity of scuba diving, a diving class for beginners must first be taken and completed. During this diving course you will be taught not just the techniques and skills necessary to maneuver when submerged under water but more importantly you will also be educated on the appropriate equipment and gears for scuba diving.

Scuba diving requires a diver to first have the proper training as well as the right equipments in order to enjoy the diving experience and stay safe under the water. The first most important gear is a diving mask which will allow the diver to see what there is to see beneath the water surface. It will prevent water from reaching the diver’s eyes. Goggles are not to be substituted with a diving mask because you will feel a great amount of pressure on your face as the depth becomes greater.

Fins are also required in diving. Perhaps if you are diving no more than 30 feet in water depth, fins may not be necessary. Yet in scuba diving which is commonly held greater than 30 feet in depth, fins are required so the diver’s thrust will be enhanced. Fins are available with or without straps.

When the diver is still near the water surface, a snorkel may be used instead of using the gas in the tank. A snorkel is a rubber or plastic tube shaped like an L or a J, fixed with a mouthpiece. The snorkel will help conserve the air in the tank.

A scuba diver also need to have a buoyancy compensator. This equipment looks like a vest that helps the diver to come up to the water surface. Scuba divers must also wear a wetsuit to serve as an insulator for the body. Depending on the type of diving to be done, the wet suit must be selected appropriately.

Another essential padi idc indonesia scuba diving equipment is a regulator. There are different types of regulators and regulating accessories to choose from depending on the depth of diving you intend to do. A regulator is used to supply the diver with breathing air at a low level of pressure. It also used to control the flow of air when needed.

Diving gauge or measuring tools are also needed in scuba diving. They could be in the form of a watch or a more sophisticated diving computer that will tell limitations for decompression and information on the depth of the water. Of course any scuba diver needs to have a breathing gas tank that contains the diver’s needed air for survival and will be carried on the shoulder. A tank would have a meter that will tell the diver on how much gas is still available or stored in the tank.
